Carlo Riva primarily produces exceptionally high-quality shirting fabrics aimed at a luxury clientele.
Crafted in accordance with the oldest tailoring traditions, the historic Carlo Riva silk mill manufactures shirting fabrics using shuttle looms dating back to the 1940s. These looms produce fabric cuts 90 cm in width with a selvage, sometimes featuring woven-in text.
This traditional weaving method reduces yarn tension compared to modern looms, resulting in uniquely soft and precious three-dimensional textures that cannot be replicated with contemporary machinery.
Due to the artisanal nature of this production, slight imperfections and tonal variations may occasionally occur, reflecting the authenticity of the craftsmanship.
For this reason, the production process is only modified when modern looms become essential to meet specific quality and precision requirements.
Equally important is the fabric’s final treatment: it is rested for a year under constant temperature and humidity conditions, making Carlo Riva fabrics unique in comfort, evoking the softness of cashmere and the finest silk.
