With the Trofeo brand, are named all the articles that are made with certain very fine and precious wools. Lanificio Ermenegildo Zegna selects these wools and buys them directly in their places of origin. The name Trofeo derives from the trophies that Ermenegildo Zegna has been organizing in Australia since 1963, awarding the best superfine wool producer. The lots are evaluated with very strict parameters, and only one for season is awarded with the coveted Ermenegildo Zegna Trophy.
They are fabrics with a particularly sweet and silky hand, suitable for formal and elegant garments. Lately the types have been re-studied, the chain yarn is finer both in terms of titolation and fineness of the wool used, a new “compact” spinning process makes the yarns more regular and clean. All these precautions give the fabric a finer grain, a smoother and cleaner look and a softer, silky touch, slightly lightening the final weight, thus making it fresher and more pleasant to wear.
The Zegna Wool Mill founded in 1910, has been the backbone of the company’s success and is renowned internationally for the world’s finest textiles. Four generations of the Zegna family have led the success in textiles, through innovation, carefully balancing science with nature and craftsmanship with technology.
The complete production process is carried out by Ermenegildo Zegna – from raw material selection to finishing. Commitment to quality and the use of modern technology to back up artisan craftsmanship is the living tradition linking past, present and future.
Over the last hundred years, the Lanificio has pioneered sophisticated men’s fabrics to become lighter, softer, more refined and with an improved performance and functionality. Consequently, new fabric standards have been set and new construction methods have emerged in the luxury men’s tailoring and casual industries.
